Report: Bad news for Liam Rosenior as Chelsea monitor manager who went entire season unbeaten

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior could soon find himself under serious pressure at Stamford Bridge.

Rosenior managed to guide Chelsea to an impressive 7-0 victory over Port Vale in the FA Cup last weekend.

However, before that, the Blues had been on a run of four straight defeats, causing speculation about Rosenior’s future.

Quarter-final 2! Xabi Alonso or Cesc Fabregas?

Chelsea monitoring Xabi Alonso

As of now, Rosenior appears to be safe. However, it looks like Chelsea are preparing themselves just in case they have to make a change in the summer.

According to TEAMtalk, they are keeping an eye on Xabi Alonso, who is without a job right now.

The former Liverpool midfielder is available after being sacked by Real Madrid back in January. Just before that, Chelsea parted ways with Enzo Maresca.

More than one Chelsea player has gone on record to say that Maresca’s departure has impacted the team in a negative way.

One player who is not missing the Italian too much, though, is Jorrel Hato. Hato is said to be happier under Rosenior, with the ex-Strasbourg boss giving him game time, something that the left-back did not get under Maresca.

Xabi Alonso’s invincible season at Bayer Leverkusen

Things did not go to plan for Alonso at Real Madrid, but he did an exceptional job at Bayer Leverkusen.

In the 2023/24 season, Leverkusen finally managed to end Bayern Munich’s dominance of the Bundesliga by winning the title.

They did it in incredible fashion, too, after going the entire season unbeaten. Under Alonso, the German side finished on 90 points after winning 28 games and drawing six.

If Chelsea and Rosenior do part ways at the end of the campaign, Alonso would be an excellent replacement.

Chelsea have looked at Alonso in the past, so it would not be a surprise if they made a move for him at some point. For now, though, the club seem willing to put their trust in Rosenior and are giving the 41-year-old more time.
