Chelsea attacker Cole Palmer captained the team for the first time on Saturday, and his comments since have shown that he seems to be growing more into the mould of a leader ever since.
This weekend we face his old team Man City, and Palmer has spoken about what he needs to do to get a win.
“The gaffer has said it needs to be a perfect week; everyone needs to be on it,” Palmer said in an interview on the club’s official website.
Palmer admits to his own struggles
Palmer also spoke about his own form and fitness:
“I feel good. I feel I’ve turned a corner,” the attacker said.
“Physically, I feel good now, I can shoot again, do everything again. Now it’s a case of kicking on and performing.”
This is the first time we’ve heard him speak about his physical limitations this season. It’s been obvious that his shooting hasn’t been anywhere near it’s normal level, taking away perhaps his greatest asset.
Let’s just hope he’s right that the physical issues are behind him.
In other news…
Another person who needs to be “perfect” is Wesley Fofana. The defender has really lost the fans’ faith with his performance and attitude – but that’s easily fixed.
Liam Rosenior would do wonders for his reputation if he can get the best of Pep Guardiola – but it won’t be easy.
