Arsenal would need to break their transfer budget to secure the signing of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, according to former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness. Wyness, speaking exclusively on the Football Insider Inside Track podcast.
Kvaratskhelia, 24, has been a standout performer for PSG since joining from Napoli in January 2025 on a long-term deal running until 2029. The winger is widely regarded as one of the most technically gifted attackers in world football, praised for his dribbling, creativity and ability to unlock defences.
Despite reports linking him with a switch to ARSENAL amid speculation over Gabriel Martinelli’s future, Wyness believes Arsenal’s valuation gap is too large for the summer window, he said: “I don’t think that’s going to happen. He’s going to stay at PSG.
“I don’t think he’s going anywhere. It might be his agent after having had a great season, and they’re just floating ideas. The Premier League has an appeal, but having come off a Champions League winning season with PSG, he hasn’t really kicked on to the same level of quality of player that they had last season.
“I don’t see him being in the budget for Arsenal either. I don’t think he’s the right sort of player and that’s not really the area where Arteta is going to think he’s short right now.
“I’ll put this one down to rumour and speculation, but it would be nice because it would mean a big increase in revenue for the number of letters being sold on the back of the shirt, that’s for sure.”
HOW MUCH WOULD A DEAL REALLY COST?
To pry Kvaratskhelia away from PSG, ARSENAL would almost certainly have to contemplate a fee beyond their historical outlays. While PSG signed him from Napoli for around €70 million (£59 million) in 2025, any potential suitor now would be expected to pay well above that figure given his status, age and contract length.
Realistically, a bid in excess of €150–€200 million (£130–£175 million) — excluding bonuses — might be needed to tempt PSG to sell, especially if the player continues to perform at a high level. Such a figure would eclipse Arsenal’s previous record fees and represent a significant gamble given Financial Fair Play considerations and squad balance.
WHY PSG WON’T WANT TO SELL
PSG are unlikely to entertain offers for a player who is central to their long-term project. Kvaratskhelia has settled well in Paris and has expressed happiness at the club, insisting he is “comfortable” in the French capital ahead of key European fixtures
