Both Man United and Liverpool are interested in RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande ahead of the summer.

One of the biggest stories in the Premier League this season is the future of Liverpool star Mo Salah. He announced that he would be leaving Anfield, meaning the Reds have the task of finding his replacement.

There is understood to be interest in Diomande from several other top clubs around Europe, so his final destination could be whoever opts to pay the release clause rather than trying to bid less on him.

Arsenal cause threat to Diomande deal

According to a report by Caught Offside, both Man United and Liverpool have fallen behind in their pursuit of Diomande, as it is understood that Arsenal are leading the race for the 19-year-old, as they look to upgrade the left wing position.

The Gunners currently have Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, both of whom are out of contract at the end of next season, so they will likely be willing to spend big on a replacement. It is understood they are the best-placed Premier League side to sign Diomande as things stand.

This is a huge blow for Man United and Liverpool, both of whom now need to consider alternatives if they want to upgrade their attacking lineup during the summer.

Man United and Liverpool turn to Monaco star

It is understood that both clubs have found their replacement, and he comes from Ligue 1 side Monaco. According to TeamTalk, both Man United and Liverpool have ‘stepped up’ their interest in Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche, who is very well regarded in France, and expected to become a star in the future.

The 24-year-old is one of the most talented wingers in Ligue 1, and so there is no surprise that he is attracting attention from two giants in the Premier League. This season he has made 37 appearances in all competitions for Monaco, scoring seven goals and providing eight assists.

It is understood that Akliouche will be cheaper than Diomande, despite the fact that he has much more experience at the top level and in Europe. £50m could be enough for Man United to secure the 24-year-old, which would be considerably less than any deal for Diomande, especially considering the very high demand for him.
