The Atlanta Falcons have not made the playoffs in several seasons, and they need to find a way to make the playoffs next season. Tight end Kyle Pitts was expected to hit the free agent market, but Atlanta decided to hang onto him and franchise tag him instead.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network revealed good news about Pitts entering OTAs for the Falcons. He said on his Twitter page, “#Falcons TE Kyle Pitts, who was franchise tagged, is signing his tag and showing up for workouts. The two sides can still negotiate a long-term deal, but he locks in his $15.045M fully guaranteed.” The Falcons have until July 15th to get a new deal done with him. It will be interesting to see what kind of deal that both sides will be able to work out in the long run.
If Atlanta is not able to work out a long-term deal with him, then they are just stuck with him for one year. Things would be interesting after that if no contract is reached. The Falcons now have no excuse to get a long-term deal with Pitts now.
