The Arizona Cardinals are undergoing a rebuild, which has put an added emphasis on the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft. After a relatively quiet stint during free agency, the Cardinals are going to have to nail their picks in the draft if they want to fast-track their rebuild and find a way to return to the playoffs.
Arizona will enter the draft with seven picks, the crown jewel of that group being the No. 3 pick in the first round. While everyone is curious as to what the Cardinals will do with that selection, the front office has to prepare for all seven rounds of the draft. With that in mind, the team has gone out of its way to get a closer look at Texas Tech Red Raiders wide receiver Reggie Virgil.

If there’s a position the Cardinals are well-stocked at, it’s wide receiver. Marvin Harrison Jr. remains the team’s No. 1 option, but Michael Wilson also burst onto the scene with a breakout 1,000-yard season. Tight end Trey McBride is also arguably the best player at his position in the league, which gives Arizona some weapons to work with in the passing game.
Still, you can never have too many able-bodied pass catchers, which is why the front office is checking out Virgil. After establishing himself as a big-play threat with the Miami RedHawks in 2024, Virgil transferred to Texas Tech for the 2025 campaign, and he turned in a strong campaign, as he caught 57 passes for 705 yards and six touchdowns, while also picking up another pair of scores on his only two rushing attempts of the year.
Virgil possesses a unique blend of size and speed, and while he is still a very raw prospect, his upside is tough to miss. A potential Day 3 pick, the Cardinals have made their interest in Virgil very clear, as they brought him in for a Top 30 visit on Monday as they continue to fill out their draft board.

Wide receiver isn’t exactly a pressing need for Arizona right now, but the team wants to cover all of its bases ahead of the draft. A true No. 3 wideout is something the Cardinals could use, so if that’s something they want to target, it makes sense that they would wait until the later rounds as they look to bring a player to town to fill that need.
Virgil likely won’t come off the board until the fifth or sixth round of the draft, so there’s a decent shot that the front office will consider bringing him to town if he falls to them in either of these rounds. As the draft draws near, though, Virgil’s stock is rising, so there’s a decent chance that another team could end up stealing him from the Cardinals before they can get to him.
