Andre Onana joined Turkish side Trabzonspor on loan last summer and it appears that the Cameroonian goalkeeper does not have a future at Old Trafford once that move comes to an end

Manchester United remain determined to move Andre Onana on despite the goalkeeper’s wish to revive his Old Trafford career. The Cameroonian stopper joined Turkish side Trabzonspor on a season-long loan deal last summer following a difficult couple of seasons.
Once that agreement expires, Onana will be left with two years remaining on his United contract and has already expressed a desire to return and compete with current stopper Senne Lammens for the number one shirt.
But it appears that club chiefs have a different view of the former Inter Milan goalkeeper’s future. As per Mail Online, United have no plans to bring Onana back to the club and want to move him on in an effort to reduce their wage bill even further.
Onana’s representatives will hold talks with the club in the imminent future but it is thought another exit - whether that be permanently or another loan - is the most likely route. United remain keen to recoup the majority of the £47.2m they paid for his signature back in 2023.
Trabzonspor vice-president Zeyyat Kafkas recently admitted that the club would not be able to afford that fee. He said: “As the figure from Manchester United for the purchase of Andre Onana is in the range of €45-50m, our president has sincerely informed the community in line with Trabzonspor’s realities.
“I don’t think this information affected Onana at all. Because Onana’s thinking is that if it’s not England, he wants to continue at a club in Europe.
“His family thinks the same way. The president also wanted to explain Trabzonspor’s reality. However, if the conditions change, the situation changes.”
Trabzonspor head coach, Fatih Tekke, also admitted that the goalkeeper would decide his own future. He said: “Onana is on loan with us. There have been matches where he didn’t play well. There have also been many matches where he played well.

“I’m very pleased with Onana’s positivity, not only in terms of performance but also in terms of character. You have transferred from one of the best teams in the world and you have experienced problems. He feels very comfortable here.
“The chairman’s words reflect Onana’s own thoughts. But this can sometimes change in a match. He is very happy here, but he will make his own decision about his future.”
In all, Onana has made 25 appearances for Trabzonspor this season but has kept just six clean sheets.
