Broncos given worst possible news on potential trade target who once played for Sean Payton

Ever since Sean Payton took the job with the [Denver Broncos](https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/denver-broncos), some have floated the idea of Alvin Kamara going back to play with his former head coach.

For years, Kamara’s name has floated around as a potential trade candidate, especially with the [New Orleans Saints](https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/new-orleans-saints) being in more of a rebuild process.

However, according to Saints coach Kellen Moore, he's very excited to have him on the roster, and it certainly doesn't sound like a guy who's about to get traded.

"Having Alvin Kamara with Travis Etienne is 'great situation' for Saints. We love Alvin. He means the world to all of us," Moore said at the Annual League Meeting in Phoenix, via the Saints' official site. "This is a full offseason process. We feel like he's in that room. You can find roles for all those different guys. We go through the whole offseason process and continue to grow and develop this team.

"He's certainly on the roster and part of that running back room. We feel like there's ways that you can manipulate all those guys and put them in plenty of situations. Look at our season last year, look at probably just about every NFL season -- plenty of running backs play. We feel fortunate that we were able to acquire Travis in free agency, but there's still a lot of work to be had out there."

That doesn't mean the Saints wouldn't move on from him if they got a decent package in return, but it doesn't sound like they're actively shopping him. The Broncos are a very good team, but I haven't loved what they've done during the offseason. This feels like a team that's banking a bit too much on doing what they did a year ago, and that typically doesn't work out as well as it should. Kamara would be a nice addition, but probably isn't a game-changer at this stage of his career at 30 years old.
