Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Man United have agreed to sign someone ahead of the summer.

Man United will have a very busy summer, whether that is with regards to their squad improvement or the manager position. Michael Carrick will be in contention for the permanent job based on how well he has performed so far this season.

It is also understood that Man United want to keep Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo around, and are set to extend their contracts beyond this season, which would be a major boost.

Harry Maguire signs new deal

Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news on X, he posted: “OFFICIAL: Harry Maguire signs new deal at Manchester United until June 2027, as expected. New contract also includes an option until June 2028. Up next: Kobbie Mainoo.”

Man United also released a statement following the news. It reads: “Harry Maguire has signed a new contract that will extend his stay with Manchester United until June 2027, with the option for a further year.

“Harry Maguire said: “Representing Manchester United is the ultimate honour. It is a responsibility that makes myself and my family proud every single day.

“I am delighted to extend my journey at this incredible club to at least eight seasons and continue to play in front of our special supporters to create more amazing moments together.”

Maguire has been at Man United since August 2019 for a record fee of £80m. By that point he was already well established in the England set-up, and has been a reliable asset for Man United over the past few years.

Mainoo will be next

As Romano included in his X post, Kobbie Mainoo’s contract is the next priority, as the midfielder has become a starting XI regular again since Carrick came in to replace Ruben Amorim, who repeatedly dropped Mainoo, raising questions over his future.

But it now looks to be certain, as Mainoo is back in the side and a key player again. It is understood that Man United are working to tie him down to a long-term contract so they can build the team around Mainoo and help develop him into a world-class midfielder.
