Oklahoma pass-rusher R. Mason Thomas has upcoming pre-draft visits with the #Dolphins and #Seahawks.

Thomas, who is expected to be selected early on Day 2, has also visited the following teams, source says:

๐Ÿˆ Browns ๐Ÿˆ Buccaneers ๐Ÿˆ Patriots

Thomas was not a major contributor his first two seasons at Oklahoma, only having 1.5 sacks and 16 combined tackles in 19 games played. However, his last two seasons were massive for his draft stock. In 23 games, Thomas had 49 combined tackles, 22 tackles for loss, and 15.5 sacks. He also forced four fumbles and returned two for touchdowns.

Currently, Thomas is a projected second round pick; however, it would be early in the second round if he went there, ranked at the 44th prospect on NFL Mock Draft Databaseโ€™s consensus big board. CBS Analyst Pete Prisco has Thomas going as high as 12 on his mock draft, but that is bullish in comparison to other analysts. All of this makes Thomas a realistic play for the Seahawks at pick 32.

Seahawks Look to Address Pash Rush in the NFL Draft

Keyron Crawford Seahawks

GettySeattle Seahawks have also invited Keyron Crawford for a pre-draft NFL visit.

The Seattle Seahawks have also invited Keyron Crawford from Auburn and Keyshawn James-Newby from New Mexico. That furthers their indications that they plan on addressing the pass rush in the NFL Draft.

Crawford played at Auburn for two seasons after transferring from Arkansas State. At Arkansas State, he had 58 combined tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks in 23 games. He continued to produce similar results at Auburn with 58 combined tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, and 5 sacks in 24 games. His consistency across different levels is a good sign for his pro development.

Crawford is projected to go in the third round of the NFL Draft.

Keyshawn James-Newby was a fifth year senior from New Mexico. He originally played for Montana Tech, an NAIA school which is how he obtained his fifth year of NCAA eligibility. After two years at Montana Tech, he transferred to Idaho to play in the FCS for two season.

James-Newby has been successful as well at every level he has played. In two years at Montana Tech, he totaled 92 tackles and 13 sacks. At Idaho, he had 103 tackles, 15.5 sacks, and 9 forced fumbles. At New Mexico, he had 52 combined tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 9 sacks, and two forced fumbles. While not being a power five player, the level of production is undeniable.

His draft stock is somewhat of an unknown. NFL Mock Draft Database projects him as a UDFA. However, John Schneider and company see something in James-Newby to give him a pre-draft visit.

Seahawks Face Uncertain Future for the Defensive Line

Seattle Seahawks Boye Mafe

GettyBoye Mafe is one key contributor who the Seattle Seahawks lost this offseason.

The Seahawks need pass rushers after losing Boye Mafe to the Cincinnati Bengals in free agency. Mafe signed a three year $60 million contract with the Bengals this offseason. The former second round pick was productive in Seattle, with 164 combined tackles and 20 sacks in 65 games.

Derrick Hall enters the final year of his rookie deal while Uchenna Nwosu also enters 2026 on the final year of his contract. Demarcus Lawrence, while committing to this season, is also a candidate to retire in the next few years. While Nwosu, Hall, and Lawrence are all committed for the 2026 season, beyond them there are not many proven names on the roster.

Mike Morris did not receive much playing time in 2025. However, he remains a depth option for Seattle after being selected by the Seahawks in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Rylie Mills, who the Seahawks selected in the 5th round last year, showed flashes of play towards the end of the season after recovering from his torn ACL. Maybe he will prove himself to be a major factor in this upcoming season.
