The squad of players called upon by Atlético Madrid boss Diego Simeone to face La Liga rivals Barcelona on Wednesday has been unveiled online.

And it features a quartet of noteworthy absences.

Atlético are of course currently in the midst of final preparations for a return to action on the continent tomorrow evening.

Put to the sword by Barcelona in La Liga this past weekend, the Rojiblancos will hope to fare better in a Champions League quarter-final first-leg clash with Hansi Flick’s side in 24 hours’ time.

As alluded to above, though, in efforts towards as much, Atlético will be forced to make do without several important players.

The travelling group chosen by Diego Simeone for the trip to the Spotify Camp Nou was unveiled online on Tuesday.

And absent were all of Jan Oblak, Johnny Cardoso, Pablo Barrios and José María Giménez.

As per an ensuing statement across Atléti’s social media platforms:

Oblak, Johnny y Barrios siguen recuperándose de sus respectivas lesiones. Giménez, debido a unas molestias, está pendiente de evolución y tampoco entra en la lista de convocados.
