The Las Vegas Raiders have signed Kirk Cousins to be part of Klint Kubiak's quarterback room in 2026, which will likely house the No. 1 overall pick, Fernando Mendoza.
Many see the move for Cousins as a master stroke for the Raiders, as it gives the franchise cover for Mendoza if there's an injury or he needs a break. Plus, the ability to learn from a veteran will be superb for the rookie quarterback.
There were some who were skeptical of the move for Cousins, as not all veteran quarterbacks like to play the role of mentor, but in Kirk's case, he's coming to Las Vegas with the ideal mindset.
"For me, I got more football behind me than ahead of me," Cousins said via the team's official website. "And as a result, I see my time here as a great opportunity to finish strong. To leave a mark, to hopefully send things in the right direction, such that when I'm done playing, I can be proud of not only what we did in my time here in Vegas, but then what the Raiders are still doing."

Cousins has perfect mentality
What Kirk's comments say, to me at least, is that he is happy doing whatever the franchise asks of him, and most know that means mentoring Mendoza.
And it feels like Cousins will be all-in on doing that.
Wanting what's best for the Raiders now is one thing, but wanting to help set them up for the future is another, and Raiders fans will surely love Cousins' approach to coming to the AFC West.
The Raiders are in good shape this offseason at quarterback, and it appears Kirk will be doing all he can to make sure Mendoza will have a smooth transition from college to the pros.
And that's all Raiders fans can ask for.
