Arsenal are now beating Liverpool in the race to sign RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande for one key reason, according to a report from Caught Offside.
Both Arsenal and Liverpool could be in the market for a new winger when the summer transfer window opens later this year.
Liverpool are in the hunt for a replacement for Mohamed Salah, who confirmed he will be leaving the club at the end of the season.
The likes of Cody Gakpo and Florian Wirtz, who have been deployed off the left-hand side at times, have also struggled, so it could be a priority position for the Merseyside club.
The Gunners don't look set to lose any of their key stars, but Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli have struggled to perform consistently on the left.
Now, the two sides are in a battle for the same player.

Liverpool vs Arsenal for Yan Diomande
Yan Diomande
According to a report from Caught Offside, Liverpool and Arsenal are in a battle to sign RB Leipzig youngster Diomande ahead of the summer transfer window.
Unfortunately for Liverpool, Champions League is a considered a 'must' for Diomande, meaning they are behind Arsenal in the race.
Liverpool could still qualify for the Champions League, but there's certainly no guarantee that they manage to finish in the top five, considering their recent form.
As a result, the report claims that Arsenal are leading the race for his signature, and they've already opened talks with his representatives over a potential move this summer.
“Arsenal have reached out to those around Diomande to be kept informed over his future.
That doesn’t mean a bid or an offer is imminent or definitely going to happen, but it’s a position they’re looking to strengthen and he’s appreciated by their recruitment team. Diomande is Liverpool’s preferred Salah replacement, but the reality is that they’ll struggle to get him without Champions League football, and there is a huge amount of interest from all over Europe, with Arsenal very much in the race."

Defensive work rate and pressing triggers still inconsistent
Likely better as a rotational/development option than immediate starter
Ceiling is high if coached into structured patterns
Comparable developmental trajectory to early-stage wide prospects Arsenal have refined
Overall: high-upside, medium-risk fit requiring tactical coaching and patience
