Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s spell at Chelsea only lasted a year, another playmaker who struggled to get going at Stamford Bridge due to a lack of game time. It’s not the first time it’s happened.
Many join Chelsea, struggle to play, and then get sold or loaned out, and finally show what they were signed for in the first place. Dewsbury-Hall is on fire under David Moyes at Everton since leaving.
Such is his form for Everton, Chris Sutton recently said that Chelsea will regret selling Dewsbury-Hall after just one season. In that season at Chelsea, he helped win the Conference League under Enzo Maresca.

But at Everton, his form has been so good that some have called for an England call-up. Dewsbury-Hall isn’t the first and won’t be the last player to arrive at Chelsea, struggle, leave, and then impress again.
Ask Mo Salah, Kevin De Bruyne, and even this season, Axel Disasi struggled at Chelsea. He left for West Ham, where he’s quickly become a fan favourite. Dewsbury-Hall thinks one is better than Frank Lampard.

Before De Bruyne made it big at Wolfsburg and then Man City, the Belgian endured an indifferent spell with Chelsea having left Genk for West London. De Bruyne only managed nine senior outings for Chelsea.

He would join Wolfsburg in 2014 for a fee in the region of £18m. The rest is history, De Bruyne has gone on to become one of the world’s best midfielders and at one point, at City, arguably the best in the world.
Dewsbury-Hall played a round of winner stays on this week, on Daily Mail Sport’s Instagram. When posed with either De Bruyne or Lampard, the Everton star controversially picked the current Napoli ace.

That late run into the box and getting on the end of a cutback is almost known as the special Lampard timing, that others only dream of emulating. De Bruyne was perhaps more refined, but less powerful.

A player with more creation, more technical ability, but lacked the goalscoring prowess of Lampard. It is almost harsh to compare, but both were kings of their generation. The stats do all the talking.
De Bruyne has more career assists than goals. A total of 263 assists at the club level and 159 goals. But Lampard, who was also deadly from the spot, scored 272 goals, creating 177 more through assists.
Different players, different generations, but the same position. Lampard and De Bruyne were the best of their eras, but are also examples of how the Premier League has been moulded over the last 20 years.
