Michael Carrick is set for a busy summer if he's still in the hot seat
Manchester United have been advised where they ought to start when it comes to offloading players this summer. With interim manager Michael Carrick in charge, it's unclear who'll be in the hot seat by the time the Red Devils start pursuing fresh talent.
While midfield is undoubtedly the area where United are set to concentrate much of their summer expenditure, departures will also prove crucial to generate funds and create room in their squad.
Carrick's team will have savoured three weeks without matches by the time they welcome Leeds next Monday, with United having jetted off to Dublin this week for some rigorous training sessions. Daily Star Sport examines the latest developments emerging from Old Trafford.

Paul Scholes verdict
Paul Scholes pulled no punches in declaring United need a wholesale clearout this summer after calling on his former club to cut ties with eight first-team stars, reports the Mirror.
During a 'keep or sell' segment on The Good, The Bad and The Football podcast, alongside former team-mate Nicky Butt and TV personality Paddy McGuinness, the 11-time league champion delivered the sell verdict more frequently than some listeners might have anticipated.

The group of players the former England midfielder said he would ditch included Noussair Mazraoui, Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro, Patrick Dorgu, Luke Shaw, Mason Mount, Manuel Ugarte and Joshua Zirkzee.
However, while the likes of Joshua Zirkzee and Noussair Mazraoui could leave the club following a drop in game time this season, Maguire put pen to paper on a fresh deal on Tuesday.
