Jorge Mendes can offer Chelsea encouragement for signing – Blues concrete approach

Chelsea may have an easy route to sign Barcelona Marc Casadó in the summer transfer window.

The Blues were one of the clubs who tried to sign the midfielder last summer.

In July 2025, Sport Witness covered a big report from Spain that Chelsea pushed to sign him. At that time, Barcelona had set a €30m price.

However, the 22-year-old didn’t want to give up his Camp Nou career.

His decision has not paid off and the below table comparing his La Liga stats from this and last season should explain why.

This season-last season.

Appearances: 19-23

Total minutes: 865-1623

Minutes per game: 46-71

Interceptions per game: 0.4-1.0

Tackles per game: 0.8-1.9

Clearances per game: 0.3-0.7

Duels won per game: 1.8-3.6

Although he’s played four matches less this season when compared to last, these stats show around a 50% drop in his overall minutes.

Chelsea transfer failed last summer

Wednesday’s edition of Sport have a report on Marc Casadó’s future after this season.

The newspaper relays Cadena Ser’s report of the Spain international wanting to leave the Catalan club after this season.

He has informed those close to him of his desire to listen to interesting offers and then decide the best option.

Barcelona, for their part, are considering selling the defensive midfielder in the summer. Since he’s an academy graduate, his sale allows the Blaugrana make a significant profit.

Sport then provide their own take on this case and mention Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Last summer, both clubs made concrete approaches, but the player rejected their offers to stay at the Camp Nou.

However, that didn’t work out and now ‘opens the exit door’ for the next window. His price has dropped further after a disappointing season.

The Spaniard has changed agent and is now represented by Jorge Mendes, who also has Chelsea’s Pedro Neto in his client list.

His agent will ‘surely find a new club for him’ and whether it’s Chelsea or another club remains to be seen.

Our take: Why Blues over Wolves

Wolves are now bottom of the table and set to be relegated. Marc Casadó won’t want to move to the Championship, leaving Chelsea an easy route to sign him.

This, coupled with price drop and Jorge Mendes’ involvement should make it relatively easy for Liam Rosenior’s side.
