Michael Carrick has insisted that Harry Maguire proved a real point to Thomas Tuchel after the Manchester United star climbed back into the England team.
Thomas Tuchel had called up both Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo for the March international break after their turnaround in form under interim boss Michael Carrick.
Maguire had not featured under Tuchel until last month’s international friendlies, despite being a key England pick for former Three Lions boss Sir Gareth Southgate.
The 33-year-old former Manchester United captain was able to pick up important England minutes against both Uruguay and Japan in the matches at Wembley.

Following the end of the March international break, Maguire also inked a brand-new deal with Man Utd ahead of his previous contract expiring in the summer.
England star Maguire will now remain at Old Trafford until 2027 and the Red Devils have the option to extend his future by another 12 months if needed.
Carrick has claimed that he was involved in the contract process with the Three Lions international and was keen for Maguire to remain at the Premier League club.
“I was part of discussions,” he explained.
“I think it’s, obviously, a little bit unique as well in terms of this end of the season, but I think, of course, in terms of an opinion, I think it’s pretty obvious, really, in terms of how he’s been.
“And what he brings to the group, anyway, that it wasn’t a difficult decision.
“So, I think, yeah, that’s what I mean. I think everyone who’s part of it, everyone’s delighted that it’s worked out and worked out so quickly, really.”
Maguire has started in all 10 Premier League matches since Red Devils legend Carrick replaced Ruben Amorim in the short term at Man Utd.
