Baltimore Ravens urged to pair Trey Hendrickson with disgruntled 2x All-Pro

The Baltimore Ravens are entering a new era in their franchise history. After parting ways with long-time head coach John Harbaugh, they hired defensive guru Jesse Minter to take his place. The hope, of course, is that Minter and his new staff will help lead Baltimore back to the NFL Playoffs and Super Bowl glory.

Over the course of the off-season, the Ravens have certainly tried to give their new head coach all the tools that he needs to be successful. After nixing their trade for Maxx Crosby, Baltimore signed All-Pro pass rusher Trey Hendrickson, giving themselves their best pass rusher in years.

Of course, they are not done adding pieces, and one NFL analyst believes they should add another All-Pro to pair with their highest-profile free agent signing.

The Baltimore Ravens are urged to trade for Dexter Lawrence

New York Giants interior defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence is a three-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time Second Team All-Pro. Apparently, contract negotiations with the Giants have not gone to his liking, so he has requested a trade.

Kevin Patra of NFL.com believes the Ravens should try to make a move:

“The Baltimore brass insisted they had eyes on pairing Trey Hendrickson with Maxx Crosby before nixing the trade with Las Vegas. Trading for Lawrence would give them another pass-rush force to play with under new HC Jesse Minter.

“After Baltimore struggled to get after the quarterback, a duo of Hendrickson and Lawrence would make the Ravens’ front exponentially more menacing. Lawrence’s ability to get into the backfield would also allow Minter to get pressure without sending extra rushers.

“Baltimore has a trove of draft picks (11) to toss at the Giants, and has the salary-cap space to make the trade work. The uncertain future of Nnamdi Madubuike could also incentivize the Ravens to make a big move to solidify the middle.”

As Patra notes, the Ravens certainly have the draft picks it would take to land Lawrence. They also have the salary cap space to make the trade work.

A quick look at Lawrence’s 2025 season will show that he had just 0.5 sacks last season (after having 9.0 in 2024). However, a dive into his tape from last year would show that he was as effective at penetrating the offensive line and rushing the passer as he has ever been.

Adding him to the same roster as Hendrickson could give Baltimore the best defensive line in the NFL.
