Chelsea are exploring a potential move for Newcastle United that could see the misfiring Liam Delap head to St James’ Park in exchange for Nick Woltemade.
Since his £30 million move from Ipswich Town last summer, Liam Delap’s debut campaign at Stamford Bridge has struggled to gain momentum under Liam Rosenior.
Despite arriving with high expectations following a prolific 12-goal season, the 23-year-old has largely been utilised as a rotation option at Chelsea, totaling just 802 minutes of Premier League action.
And it has been claimed that Liam Delap is intrigued by a move away this summer amid all the uncertainty, suggesting an exit is likely.
Especially as Chelsea are set to welcome Emanuel Emegha into the fold this summer.

Chelsea to ask about signing Nick Woltemade
According to Simon Phillips, if Newcastle United arrive for Liam Delap in the summer, Chelsea are going to ask about Nick Woltemade.
It had already been claimed earlier on this month that Chelsea had their eye on Woltemade, and now it looks as if a striker leaving could open the door for that move.
Since his record-breaking £69 million move from Stuttgart last summer, Nick Woltemade’s time at Tyneside has been a game of two halves.
After a blistering start with nine goals in four months, including a double against Chelsea, the German international has struggled as Eddie Howe shifted his tactical role.

What would Nick Woltemade bring to Chelsea?
Nick Woltemade would provide Chelsea with a mix of physical dominance and technical versatility that the current squad lacks. Standing at a towering 1.98m, the German international offers a unique profile.
He is a natural centre-forward capable of leading the line, but his recent Joelinton-style transformation at Newcastle has proven he can excel in a deeper, creative midfield role.
For Liam Rosenior, Woltemade is capable of improving Chelsea’s aerial presence and ball retention.
