Manchester City have offered Rodri a huge new contract in order to fend off interest from Real Madrid, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Pep Guardiola is facing a mini sqaud overhaul this summer, particularly in midfield, where Bernardo Silva is certain to leave.
The Portugal international, now a six-time Premier League winner, will depart having racked up over 450 appearances for the club.
City are expected to spend big in search of a replacement, with the most likely candidate Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, who is also wanted by rivals Manchester United.
Romano revealed earlier this year City have entered into talks with Anderson's agents, but they may have to make two signings in the centre of the park if Rodri follows his teammate out the door.

Man City offer Rodri new long-term contract
The former Ballon d'Or winner sent shockwaves through the blue side of Manchester when he opened the door to Real Madrid last month, admitting "no player would turn down" a move to the Spanish giants.
According to Romano however, City aren't sitting idly by and letting him leave, instead offering the 29 year-old, who currently makes £220,000-a-week, an "satisfying" new deal.
Manchester City's Rodri applauds fans after the match
"On one side, there is Manchester City already offering Rodri a new long contract. So what City are offering is a very important salary, from what I'm told, and according to the club a deal that could be really satisfying."
The reporter claims the ball is effectively now in the player's court, but adds that City will not let him force a move this summer, instead preferring to let him leave for free at the expiry of his contract in summer 2027.
"According to my information, City will not accept a small fee like 10, 15, 20 million for Rodri this summer. Even if Rodri decides not to sign a new contract, City will ask for important money.
"They prefer keeping Rodri for one more season rather than letting him go for 10, 15, 20 million euros.
"So this is the situation - new contract or you can leave for free in summer 2027."
Rodri became the first Premier League player to win the Ballon d'Or since 2008 when he was crowned the best player in the world in 2024, and Erling Haaland is looking to follow in his teammate's footsteps.
The Norway international will need a strong World Cup campaign and likely to win the FA Cup, but is currently in the top five of the Ballon d'Or power rankings following his stunning hat-trick against Liverpool.
