Seattle Seahawks: Unlikely to Modify Contract for Bounce-Back Defender of 2025

Seattle Seahawks pass rusher Uchenna Nwosu agreed to a $6.99 million pay cut last offseason in exchange for $6.98 million guaranteed and a $4 million signing bonus after being limited to just 12 games over the previous two seasons. He enjoyed a solid bounce-back campaign and played the final 19 games after missing Week 1 due to a lingering knee injury. Nwosu totaled 37 tackles, seven TFLs, 17 quarterback hits, 55 pressures, seven sacks, a pick-six in the Super Bowl, and four pass breakups across 13 starts. He earned $750,000 out of the $5 million in incentives.

Nwosu enters the final year of his contract and is scheduled to earn an $11 million base salary and $11.51 million in cash while carrying a $20 million cap charge for 2026, per*Over The Cap.* With $33 million in cap space and $30 million in effective cap space, the Seahawks might consider restructuring his contract to create extra room for potential extensions for Devon Witherspoon, Derick Hall, and Leonard Williams.

A while ago, Brady Henderson of ESPN asked John Schneider about Uchenna Nwosu’s contract. The general manager made it sound like the Seahawks are comfortable with the veteran pass rusher’s $20 million cap charge for 2026. Schneider noted Nwosu’s leadership and his bounce-back campaign in 2025 after two injury-riddled seasons that limited him to 12 games. If the front office were to restructure his contract, they likely would have added void years, which would carry into the next offseason with an expiring deal, something the team prefers not to do.

Schneider doesn’t foresee doing anything with Uchenna Nwosu’s contract. Sounds like they’re OK with his $20M cap number — a product of the revised deal he signed last year. Schneider noted Nwosu’s leadership and how he got through 2025 healthy after two injury-plagued seasons.
