In some cases, for the Baltimore Ravens, this offseason will be addition by subtraction.
The most notable case of that popped up on Wednesday when news broke 6-foot-8, 370-pound offensive lineman Daniel Faalele was leaving for a free-agent contract with the New York Giants and his former head coach, John Harbaugh.
“TheGiants continue to add their O-line before the Draft, agreeing to terms with formerRavens G Daniel Faalele on a 1-year deal, sources say,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport wrote on his official X account. “The 6-foot-8 Faalele started every game over the last 2 seasons and has a familiarity with several coaches, including John Harbaugh.”
Faalele, a 4th round pick (No. 110 overall), came under fire in 2025 for his awful play up front — his 56.8 overall grade from Pro Football Focus ranked him 58th out of 81 eligible players at his position.
Pair of Former NFL Stars Put Faalele on Blast
Faalele was absolutely cooked by Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe and former NFL All-Pro wide receiver Chad Ochocinco following the Ravens’ 27-22 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 14.
It’s the kind of lambasting that doesn’t come around very often. In this case, it was well deserved.
“(Faalele) can’t block the sun out of his eyes, let alone a defensive lineman,” Sharpe said on The Nightcap Podcast on Sunday, December 7. “You shouldn’t be allowed to be that big and sorry. He’s as big as he is sorry … on film, he’s always at the scene of the crime … you going to hell if you told that man ‘Good Game’ at any point this year.”
After the loss, it was hard to see how Faalele might fit into the lineup or even on the roster moving forward. Baltimore entered the season as Super Bowl contenders but went 8-9 and missed the postseason, which also led to Harbaugh being fired after 18 seasons and winding up with the Giants.
Confrontation Between Jackson, Faalele on Sideline
Faalele’s struggles even led to a rare emotional outburst from Ravens quarterback and 2-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson, who confronted Faalele on the sideline following an interception.
“You rarely see a QB chastise and single out one offensive lineman,” Ochocinco said. “Lamar must’ve been really frustrated.”
Online Trolls Out For Blood With Daniel Faalele
Faalele capped off his terrible game against the Steelers by not speaking to the media — never a good look. Online, Ravens fans were cruel.
“Daniel Faalele is just a few steps away from being the worst offensive lineman in Ravens history,” Ravens reporter Pedro Rhormes wrote on his official X account. “And that’s saying something, considering we once had Alejandro Villanueva on the field.”
“Daniel Faalele is the worst lineman in the league, the guy weighs 400 pounds and he looks like he does not know what to do every play,” Ravens YouTuber Pro Trapper wrote on X. “The guy seriously should have been benched weeks ago. This is on Harbuagh. Fire John Harbuagh.”
“(The Nightcap) is the most satisfying hate watch of how ASS Daniel Faalele is,” Ravens fan account Deli Flock wrote on X. “FINALLY someone in the media is addressing the liability this man has been ‘cuz Ravens fanshave been screaming it from the rooftops all season.”
