A Detroit Lions favorite has announced a round of personal news, and it will change his life.
The NFL offseason is often filled with twists and turns, and while that’s often surrounding the NFL draft and free agency period, sometimes, it has nothing at all to do with football. In that spirit, on Wednesday, April 8, one Detroit Lions player made some big offseason news with a personal announcement.
Spring is the time of love, and now, this player has officially proposed to his girlfriend. The good news is that, of course, she said, “Yes.” Now, the team is celebrating with this player on his new journey.
Detroit Lions Favorite Get Engaged to Longtime Girlfriend
On Wednesday, the team took to social media to congratulate Detroit Lions offensive tackle Colby Sorsdal on his engagement to girlfriend, Lauren Merrill. “Congrats, Colby and Lauren,” the team stated on Instagram with a blue heart and photo of them freshly engaged.
The post quickly drew glowing comments. “Congrats to our Lions couple. All the best,” one said. “Cuties,” another added.
The Detroit Lions selected offensive lineman Colby Sorsdal in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft with the team’s 152nd overall pick. The player started his first career game at right guard against the Las Vegas Raiders in October of 2023, according to league research.
In the draft, Sorsdal became the highest-selected player from William & Mary since 2013, as well as the highest-drafted offensive player out of the program since 1992. He was also the second Lion to be drafted out of William & Mary since 1970 and the first since 1976.
Congratulations to the happy couple, and we wish them all the best.
Detroit Lions NFL Draft Projections Going Into the Event on April 23
The Detroit Lions are getting ready for the 2026 NFL draft, and people are wondering who they’ll select with their 17th overall pick. The draft takes place from April 23 through 25 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
In a Wednesday, April 8, feature for CBS Sports, Garrett Podell has the Detroit Lions selecting offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor with their 17th overall pick.
“There has been talk of the Detroit Lions moving All-Pro right tackle Penei Sewell to left tackle after the team moved on from Taylor Decker,” he states in the piece. “That creates a vacancy at right tackle, so Detroit fills it with the offensive tackle prospect that might have the highest upside in Kadyn Proctor. He lands in the perfect spot to refine his game alongside Sewell.”
Proctor’s official NFL draft profile says he’s a “mass of humanity with rare size and length at his command.” On top of that, “he’s capable as a move blocker but shines when rolling downhill as a bona-fide people mover with bulldozing power.”
On the downside, “slants and quick first steps beat him to the spot in the run game. When set and centered, Proctor is a roadblock to speed-to-power charges.” His draft profile also says that that player “has a stout anchor and strong hands to stall the rush in its track “but struggles to mirror athletes in space and lacks the range to protect deeper pocket drops against speed.” So, he’s not perfect, but he would be a solid choice.
