Panagou visited College Park just a week ago, and that trip sealed his decision. The Terps made a strong impression, giving the Massachusetts native a clear look at the program under Mike Locksley and his staff. He committed shortly after returning home, becoming Maryland's third pledge in the 2027 cycle.
Offensive line coach Damian Wroblewski has built a reputation for identifying talent early, and Panagou fits that profile. While not yet a widely known national name, he's the type of under-the-radar, high-IQ lineman Maryland has targeted up front. The staff has emphasized developmental upside and football intelligence at the position, and Panagou aligns with that approach.
That strategy has already paid off in College Park. Current center Michael Hershey followed a similar path and has developed into a key piece along the offensive line. The staff is betting Panagou can follow a comparable trajectory as he continues to add size and refine his technique.
Maryland had to win a competition to land the 6-5, 295-pound New England prospect, beating out Syracuse, UConn, Wake Forest and UCLA. It's also a notable pull from a region the staff hasn't tapped heavily in recent cycles.
With Panagou on board, Maryland continues to build its 2027 class, adding another developmental piece up front as it works toward long-term stability along the offensive line.
