Midwest rock quartet have shared another preview of their forthcoming new album, ‘American Football (LP4)’. Having confirmed details of its release - on 1st May via Polyvinyl Record Co. - earlier this year, the band have now shared new track ‘No Feeling’, which features vocalist Brendan Yates.
Following on from the band’s previous single, ‘Bad Moons’, ‘No Feeling’ is an ethereal-sounding offering that weaves together frontman Mike Kinsella’s pensive lyrics with Yates’ more harmonious side.
”Brendan came into the studio to sing along to a ‘gang vocal’ call-and-response part I’d written for the chorus of ‘No Feeling’,” Kinsella has said, of the track. “I had imagined his voice would be one of many voices scream-singing it, and was excited for it to be a sort of Easter Egg on the album. But after tracking the original parts, he asked if he could try a higher harmony that he was hearing. As soon as he started singing it, all of our jaws dropped, and we all were looking at each other like “Oh shit! THAT’S the dude from Turnstile!” His voice is so singular, and once he sang the part in *his* range, it was clear that the part now belonged to him and him alone…”
Alongside the track itself, the band have shared an accompanying video, as directed by Cady Buche & Travis Barron of Unlimited Time Only. Check it out below.
American Football will also be starting a 2026 world tour next month, which will see them make stops across North America, Europe, and the UK (with yet more dates still to be announced), and partner with PLUS1 to donate $1/£1/€1 from every ticket sold to Safe Passage International and The Illinois Coalition for Immigration & Refugee Rights.
