BBC Journalist (Who Broke The Zubimendi Transfer Story) Reveals Arsenal Are Plotting Double Raid On PL Rival

Arsenal are keeping tabs on two Newcastle players ahead of the summer transfer window, according to BBC reporter Sami Mokbel.

The journalist broke the news last year that the Gunners would be signing Martin Zubimendi, and he now claims they are interested in Magpies pair Tino Livramento and Anthony Gordon.

Interestingly, Mokbel doesn’t mention any approach for Sandro Tonali, who has also been linked with a move to the Emirates in recent months.

It is believed that at least one high-profile player will be offloaded by Eddie Howe’s team this summer, as they look to raise funds for a rebuild, which means both Livramento and Gordon could be on the market.

Why are Arsenal keen on Livramento?

For all intents and purposes, it does look like it will be Ben White’s last season with the Gunners. Combined with the injury problems he has suffered over the last two years, he is also closing in on the last two years of his contract.

Livramento is certainly not immune to fitness issues of his own, though, and some fans may question whether he would be much of an upgrade if he continues to have spells on the treatment table.

Arsenal want to reinforce the left wing

Mokbel has also confirmed that a new left winger is a “priority position” for the London club to strengthen this summer, so that explains why Gordon is also on their radar.

Manager Mikel Arteta is believed to have monitored the 24-year-old’s progress since his time at Everton, and it looks as though he could be a potential target for the summer transfer window.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been proposed as a viable alternative, but Newcastle’s openness to selling one of their key players would suggest Gordon is a more realistic opportunity.
