Manchester United are in the market for a new manager ahead of the summer, and they've now been handed the ideal opportunity to appoint the perfect candidate.
Michael Carrick was appointed as manager earlier this year, but the former Middlesbrough boss only signed a deal until the end of the season.
Carrick has done an excellent job in charge of the Old Trafford outfit, but it remains to be seen whether he will be in charge for the 2026/2027 season.
United will be assessing potential alternative candidates ahead of the summer, as Carrick continues to do an impressive job, with the Red Devils in the Champions League places.
The appointment of Carrick has given United plenty of time to come to a decision, but he's undoubtedly thrown his hat into the ring, considering the job he's done.

Man Utd Have Ideal Chance to Appoint Perfect Candidate
Pochettino USMNT
Manchester United now have the perfect chance to appoint one of their potential candidates, Mauricio Pochettino.
The Argentine was a target for Tottenham over the last few weeks, but with Spurs needing to rush through an appointment after sacking Igor Tudor, they landed on Roberto De Zerbi.
Reports have suggested in recent months that Pochettino is under consideration by INEOS, and they could now have a free run at appointing him in the summer.
Pochettino, described as 'world-class', is currently preparing for the World Cup with the USA national team, hence why Spurs were unable to get him right now, but he's set to become available in the summer, meaning United could make a move to secure his signature.
Sir Alex Gives Pochettino Approval
Ferguson
One man who would approve the appointment of Pochettino is United legend Sir Alex Ferguson.
The Scottish retired manager previously labelled Pochettino as 'the best manager in the Premier League' when he was at Tottenham, while Tottenham MP David Lammy also revealed that he was told the same by Ferguson.
"He said to me, 'I think you guys have got the best manager in the Premier League.' Alex Ferguson said that."
United will be debating whether to move away from Carrick and appoint a more proven manager, and Pochettino could be the perfect candidate heading into the 2026/2027 season.
