Chelsea must pounce as Man City allow £27m player to leave this summer - opinion

With Manchester City reportedly ready to let an England international depart the Etihad this summer, Chelsea can finally fix a problem position for them.

The goalkeeper position has turned into a disaster situation for Chelsea, with neither Robert Sanchez nor Filip Jorgensen managing to claim the number one shirt.

Liam Rosenior’s refusal to name a definitive starter hasn’t helped the situation; his rotation policy backfired spectacularly last month when Jorgensen was promoted for the Champions League clash against PSG, only to commit multiple errors in a 5–2 defeat.

While Jorgensen’s recent surgery has temporarily eased the selection by forcing Sanchez back into the lineup, it’s almost as if you’re waiting for his next mistake.

It’s about time the Chelsea owners went into their pockets to strengthen the position this summer.

Say Chelsea can only strengthen in one position this summer, which ONE would you choose?👀

James Trafford set to leave Manchester City

According to the Manchester Evening News, James Trafford is currently on course to leave Manchester City in the upcoming summer transfer window.

James Trafford’s second spell at Manchester City has been defined by a battle for minutes behind Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Despite limited Premier League appearances, he starred in City’s Carabao Cup final triumph and recently reminded everyone of his quality with a crucial penalty save against Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

The one thing that stands out when it comes to Trafford is his reliability, something that Chelsea are really lacking right now in-between the sticks.

James Trafford would be Chelsea’s number one

James Trafford is the ideal candidate to solve Chelsea’s long-standing goalkeeper crisis due to his shot-stopping and ball-playing ability.

He offers the stability that the hierarchy has privately promised senior stars. His recent performances for Manchester City, notably a 9.2-rated display against Liverpool and a starring role in their Carabao Cup final win, prove he is ready to be a Premier League number one.

Statistically, Trafford’s 73.3% save percentage and 88% passing accuracy exceed the erratic numbers posted by Chelsea’s current options.
