Potential Steelers Draft Target To Hold Individual Workout

After not doing any testing at the NFL Scouting Combine or his Pro Day, Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson now appears healthy enough to conduct a workout for teams ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft.

According to a report from ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Tyson will hold an individual workout for teams next week, giving him an opportunity to alleviate some concerns regarding his testing and the health of his hamstring.

“Arizona St. WR Jordyn Tyson, a projected first-round pick, will hold his own individual workout day for NFL teams on Friday, April 17 at Arizona State,” Schefter tweeted Thursday morning.

The workout comes as Tyson’s stock has reportedly fallen in recent weeks.

According to a report from ESPN NFL Draft analyst Matt Miller last week, Tyson’s stock has fallen off due to concerns about his ability to stay healthy.

“One player trending in the wrong direction leading up to the draft is Arizona State receiver Jordyn Tyson,” Miller wrote of Tyson. “In reviewing my grades with a handful of scouts, many remarked that Tyson’s hamstring injury and lack of predraft workouts could cause him to slide to the back half of the first round.

“Three scouts told me that Tyson ranks as the No. 4 receiver on their internal boards. He is scheduled to do positional work for NFL teams on April 17.”

Though he remains ranked as one of the best receivers in the class, the concerns regarding Tyson’s ability to stay on the field are valid. He has a lengthy injury history throughout his time in college, including a nagging hamstring injury that hindered him in his final season with the Sun Devils, and kept him out of much of the pre-draft process.

Despite that injury history, Tyson has been consistently mocked in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, and one team he’s been connected to throughout the pre-draft process is the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have a need in the receiver room alongside DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr.

It helps that Tyson played under Sun Devils WRs coach Hines Ward, an all-time great in Steelers history, so the connection is there. The Steelers did have a formal meeting with Tyson at the Combine, and senior scout Kelvin Fisher was at the Arizona State Pro Day, though Tyson didn’t do anything, so at least the Steelers were around him consistently.

We’ll see if they attend the individual workout on April 17, too. That could be very telling.

He projects as a strong fit in Pittsburgh, a guy that can create after the catch and is an underrated blocker with his size. But the medical concerns are the only real hang-up. If he checks that box with some of the testing numbers and on-field drills next week, he could recoup some of that draft stock.
