It’s draft season and that means its also re-draft seasons.
The Raiders, of course, don’t have found memories of the 2021 NFL draft. The combination of coach Jon Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock (which ended up being the final draft for both of them with the team) took Alabama offensive lineman Alex Leatherwood at No. 17.
He was considered a wild reach and he ended up being a major bust. He was cut in training camp by first-year general manager Dave Ziegler in 2022 and he was claimed off waivers by the Chicago Bears. Leatherwood lasted just four games for the Bears and never played in the NFL again.
So, the Raiders would welcome a re-draft in this case.
In SB Nation’s re-draft, they were given Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins at No. 17. Collins, a Michigan product, was taken in the third round at No. 89 overall.
He has developed in a extremely solid wide receiver and he surely would have helped the Raiders had he been the pick over Leatherwood. But, of course, hindsight ….
How would Collins look in the Silver and Black?
