Cardinals Rough Draft: OG Beau Stephens

The Arizona Cardinals had one of the worst offensive lines in the league last year, ranked #26. During the free agency period, GM Monti Ossenfort had a goal to improve this group and signed four capable players to come in and either start or provide quality depth.

But every offensive line group needs about 10 players on the roster. Attrition always creeps in, especially towards the end of the schedule.

Beau Stephens is an efficient zone run-blocker. He has good quickness and is a tough player from a school that cranks out offensive linemen. He needs to improve his sand and anchor strength to better hold up when isolated against power. The former Hawkeye projects as a scrappy swing interior backup who can stick in a lineup as a low-end starter in a zone-based, play-action heavy system.

_Big body and did a good job of shaping his body and dropping some weight. He is very strong, and combined with his tenacity, that makes for a dominant combination in the run game. He can get out in space and make blocks on screens. The pass set is solid. He is balanced and under control, and his strength shows up with his punch and ability to absorb contact from blitzers. Initially, he came across as a great football player, but maybe not a higher-end athlete. As he has dropped some weight and improved his movement, his athleticism has caught up with his physicality, technique, and strength. Projects as a right tackle and could also play some guard if needed._
