Roma currently sit 6th in Serie A, trailing clubs such as Inter, Napoli, Como, and Juventus. They are aiming for a spot in the Champions League, being just 4 points behind the qualification zone.
A major factor behind their strong performances this season is goalkeeper Mile Svilar. The 26-year-old Serbian shot-stopper has attracted attention from Chelsea, who see him as a potential solution to their ongoing goalkeeper challenges.
Mile Svilar joined Roma from Benfica and must be seen as a late bloomer in top European football, not really making much impact in Portugal, only playing 7 league games before Roma signed him in 2022.
He has his upbringing in Belgium, representing them at youth international level. He made his full international debut for Serbia in 2022, but still has only that single cap to his name.
Mile Svilar has kept 14 clean sheets in 24 Serie A games in 2025, at least three more than any other goalkeeper. ⛔️@ASRomaEN https://t.co/BWsYn5o9Zj

Chelsea have not really found a good goalkeeper option since Thibaut Courtois left to join Real Madrid in 2018. Their current selection of goalkeepers are Robert Sanchez, Filip Jörgensen, Gabriel Slonina and Teddy Sharman-Lowe. None of them being valued as top class.
