The pictures of them together got viral, and led to speculation from many that they are dating. This led to many accusing female sports journalists of using their looks and personal connections with famous athletes and personalities to be prominent in their roles.

This led to CBS Sports sideline reporter and basketball analyst Ashley Nicole Moss going on a viral rant. She tweeted, “i’m so tired of y’all using these sporadic situations of discretions to push your bullshit narratives about pretty women in sports media spaces. the actions of a few don’t represent the masses. the generalization is sexist — especially since you don’t keep this energy for men.”
However, Breiden Fehoko disagreed with her. The former NFL defensive tackle shared her tweet and wrote, “What does Janerika Owens do?” The female reporter has been criticized by many after she wore a revealing outfit at the Seattle Seahawks media day before the Super Bowl.
Fehoko was using Owens as an example of female sports journalists who focus on their appearances and personal relationships with famous people instead of doing actual reporting work. It led to many fans attacking Owens for not being professional in her role as a sports journalist.
