Julian Edelman Sends Blunt A.J. Brown Message As Rumors Continue To Swirl

Perhaps the biggest talking point of the New England Patriots offseason has been whether A.J. Brown will be playing for them next season.

Right now, Brown is a member of the Philadelphia Eagles and is under contract for years to come. However, rumors about the Patriots trying to trade for him have been prevalent all of the season. Brown grew up a Patriots fan and pranked Eagles fans by making them think he got traded to New England before last season.

Brown also has a connection with Mike Vrabel, which is part of the reason rumors of the Patriots trying to trade for him have been so widespread. However, the Eagles reportedly have a high asking price, and the Patriots have not been willing to meet it so far. Julian Edelman made his thoughts very clear on Brown in a recent interview with Patriots Wire's Sophie Weller.

"I'd like to see A.J. Brown in a Patriots uniform," Edelman told Weller on Saturday.

Edelman could not be clearer. Even though the Patriots have noted that they have not discussed Brown in a while, some think that talks could resume after June 1. The cap implications of trading Brown would change for the Eagles after that date, and the asking price could drop.

Edelman had Brown on his podcast, "Dudes On Dudes," earlier this offseason, and Brown gave Edelman a wink when he mentioned playing for the Patriots. Brown has not helped trade rumors with his constant trolling.

"I don't know if you saw him on my podcast," Edelman told Weller. "I asked him that specific question, and this guy was winking at me, giving me telekinesis vibes."

The Eagles and Patriots will have a joint practice this offseason, and which team's jersey Brown will be wearing is still up in the air, it seems.
