Seattle Seahawks not too interested in the 2026 Draft Class

The Seattle Seahawks come into the 2026 NFL Draft with some needs at edge rusher, cornerback, and running back. However, they are not in love with this draft class.

Typically, the Seahawks love to move throughout the draft, but general manager John Schneider has not traded out of the first round since 2019. They’ve had discussions to move out of the first round in recent drafts, but they have ultimately stayed where they are picking.

Since the Seahawks only have four picks, it would make sense that they would want to move down in the draft. However, ESPN insider Brady Henderson says, “[he] also [doesn’t] get the sense that the Seahawks love this draft, which could temper their desire to significantly add to their pick total.”

The Seahawks are slated to pick at picks 32, 64, 96, and 188.

Seahawks Have Clear Needs Going into the Draft

The Seahawks have clear needs coming into the NFL Draft. With the departures of Kenneth Walker, Boye Mafe, Coby Bryant, and Tariq Woolen, the Seahawks want to add at running back, edge rusher, and defensive back.

Looking at the Seahawks current or upcoming top 30 visits, all of them fit those three positions.

Former Arkansas running back Mike Washington Jr. is among those names. It has been no secret that the Seahawks are looking to add at running back in the NFL Draft. They are lacking in proven options outside of Zach Charbonnet. However, head coach Mike MacDonald has spoken glowingly about George Holani and Kenny McIntosh.

Washington Jr. was a five year college player, playing for Buffalo, New Mexico State, and Arkansas. In five years, he produced 2914 yards and 26 touchdowns in 51 games. Currently, NFL Mock Draft Database projects Washington Jr. to be a third round pick. However, maybe the Seahawks would reach for him at pick 64 if they are unable to trade down.

Seahawks Have a History of Moving Down

The Seattle Seahawks have had a history of moving down in the NFL Draft as Schneider enjoys trying to collect as many picks as he can.

In 2014, the Seahawks moved down from pick 32 for pick 40 and pick 102; they moved down again by moving picks 40 and 146 for picks 45, 111, and 227. Pick 111 was eventually moved for picks 123 and 199.

In 2016, the Seahawks moved from pick 26 to pick 31 getting pick 94 on top of that. They made similar moves in 2017, where they moved from 26 to 31 getting picks 95 and 249 as well. They then moved 31 to get picks 34 and 111. For 2018, they moved picks 18 and 248 for picks 27, 76, and 186.

At this point, it was pretty much a joke among Seahawks fans that the Seahawks would trade down in the first round of the NFL Draft. 2019 was not different at all. The Seahawks moved) pick 21 for picks 30, 114, and 118. They then moved pick 30 for picks 37, 132, and 142. They then moved pick 37 for picks 47 and 77.

While the Seahawks have not moved down since 2019, perhaps there will be opportunities for them to do so in 2026. Given the recent reports though, it seems they know what they want with their first three picks of the NFL Draft.
