Jason Kelce names his new puppy again
Kylie Kelce and Jason recently welcomed a new German Shepherd puppy into their household. The puppy has already sparked a heartwarming saga over its naming in the family. The couple had introduced the puppy around a week before, where Kylie introduced it on her podcast “Not Gonna Lie” with the name Bernadette.

She later revealed that Jason did not like that name, and changed the puppy’s name to Matilda. But it was not the end, as he changed the name once more. During an episode of the “New Heights” podcast, which is hosted by Jason and his younger brother Travis Kelce, on April 8, 2026, he was seen holding the new puppy in their family.
He announced a new name for the puppy, “We got a German shepherd. This is Frida, or as everyone is calling, ‘Freddie’ Everyone is calling her Freddie around the house.” But he instantly suggested another name, “I’m calling her Gunda, because I like that name better. She’s German, right?” However, his eldest daughter Wyatt did not like the suggested name and said, “It’s not Gunda—it’s Freddie!”
Travis also entered the naming debate and supported his niece, “I like Freddie.” to which Jason replied, “Frida. Freddie is a nickname—but yes.” They may have gotten a new puppy, but the Kelce family had another debate regarding their choice of pet previously.
Jason Kelce’s daughters’ cat cause gets support from Taylor Swift
Jason’s four young daughters wanted a cat instead of a puppy. He tried to dissuade them by saying they were poisonous, but they got emboldened thanks to Taylor Swift supporting their cause.
In an episode of the “New Heights” podcast back in August, Swift said, “It was actually a really great challenge. As soon as I got the kids around the cats, it was my goal to prove to them that they weren’t poisonous and there’s no better way to prove that than to just hand them Benjamin, my rag doll cat.”
Kylie has confirmed her daughters wanting a cat, but said, “I met some very cute cats, but like I’ve said a million times at this point, we’re not ready for that. When I am ready for that, I’m gonna march my ass right back to the PSPCA and I’m gonna find me a cat that wants to come home and live at the Kelce household.”
While they did not get a cat, Jason Kelce and his family will have a puppy to spend time with.
