The Cleveland Browns are still waiting to solve the most important position in sports.
Most indications are that Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel aren't the answer. Is there one in the 2026 NFL Draft?
Many expect the Browns to wait until 2027 to draft another quarterback, but The Sporting News' senior NFL writer Vinnie Iyer thinks differently.
He projects in his latest mock draft that the Browns will trade back into the first round, moving into the No. 32 overall spot by acquiring a pick from the Seattle Seahawks -- and he has them take Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson.

Some expect Simpson to go earlier in the first round. Others think he'll fall out of the first round entirely.
In this scenario, the Browns see Simpson still sitting there and decide to not wait around for him any longer.
"Should the Jets pass on Simpson a couple times and are sitting there at No. 33 overall to open the second round, the Browns should think about sniping them by moving up from No. 39 for a third first-rounder beyond Downs and Lomu," Iyer writes. "Simpson has been tied more of late to (Todd) Monken, a coach who once coveted him much in the college recruiting process."
Simpson has a lot of positive quarterback traits, but the downside is that he spent only one season as a starter at Alabama. There are not a lot of recent QB success stories in the draft who were only a starter for a single season.
The Browns would definitely be taking a risk with a move like this. But to finally solve their quarterback woes once and for all, they'll need to keep taking chances until one pays off.
