Legendary New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman shared a blunt message for Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown amid trade rumors.

The rumors surrounding Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown have become a saga this offseason. Still, they march on, with the continued rumor being that he will eventually be traded to the New England Patriots.

Plenty of Patriots fans are excited about the idea of getting Brown to New England. One of those fans is actually a former player who became a legend at wide receiver in New England, Julian Edelman.

Recently, Edelman gave an interview to Patriots Wire. There, he admitted how excited the prospect of bringing in a star like Brown makes him.

“I’d like to see A.J. Brown in a Patriots uniform,” Edelman said.

As it stands now, there is a bit of a stalemate in negotiations. It’s been reported that the Eagles and the Patriots aren’t currently on the same page. Philadelphia wants a first-round package in return, but New England has something closer to a second-round package in mind. Despite that, it’s also been reported that executives from around the NFL still expect Brown to land in New England this June, when it lessens the salary cap hit on the Eagles.

A few weeks ago, A.J. Brown appeared on Julian Edelman’s Dudes on Dudes podcast. In an effort to promote the podcast, Edelman posted a gif from the episode. In it, he is saying, “We are all Patriots.” The gif then cuts to Brown, who winks at the camera.

The obvious implication is that the two of them knew something the general public didn’t. However, it’s still been quiet since then on the Brown trade front.

Edelman also addressed this kind of cryptic post, and the podcast appearance on the whole, explaining that they’re on a telekinetic wavelength together. Again, the implication is that they’re on the same page and Brown wants to be in New England.

“I don’t know if you saw him on my podcast,” Edelman said. “I asked him that specific question, and this guy was winking at me, giving me telekinesis vibes.”

Beyond his apparent relationship with Julian Edelman, A.J. Brown has a very real relationship with Mike Vrabel. The two spent time together with the Tennessee Titans, and if Brown went to New England, he would once again be paired with a coach who he seemed to enjoy playing for.

Beyond the conversation about A.J. Brown, Julian Edelman also opened up about Drake Maye. In particular, what he’s hoping to see Maye improve on going into his third NFL season.

“Year three, I want to see how he deals with the offensive line when they are not performing at their best,” Edelman said. “There’s going to be times where you can’t get them blocked, but we still got to produce. And I think that’s going to be the natural progression in his progression.”

Edelman would go on to add that, because it’s his second season under offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, he should have a stronger grasp on the offense. That will allow him to get the ball out much quicker. That knowledge of the offense will also help the offensive line, as they don’t have to hold blocks as long. Of course, having a target he can trust, like A.J. Brown, would go a long way in helping him get the ball out quickly too.
