NFL Draft: Kansas City Chiefs could focus on helping Chris Jones

Much of the Kansas City Chiefs’ offseason has been built around boosting three-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Patrick Mahomes, especially signing Kenneth Walker in free agency, but GM Brett Veach may focus on giving another superstar some major help during the NFL Draft.

Mahomes is the ultimate force multiplier, and hides a lot of the underlying issues across the Chiefs’ roster, but, Kansas City could am to add talent around All-Pro game wrecker Chris Jones during the upcoming NFL Draft.

“Coach Andy Reid and general manager Brett Veach should concentrate on adding to the Chiefs’ pass rush,” Nate Taylor writes for ESPN. “Right now, the Chiefs don’t have a starter on the edge opposite George Karlaftis. By targeting one of the top defensive linemen, the Chiefs could help take the burden off defensive tackle Chris Jones, who often has to beat two offensive linemen to pressure the opposing quarterback.”

This is a terrific year to be shopping for an edge rusher, and whether it’s Arvell Reese, Rueben Bain, or rising pass rusher Ahkeem Mesidor, Kansas City could be in a prime position at the No. 9 overall pick to add a disruptive presence alongside Jones and opposite Karlaftis.
