Philadelphia sports radio, especially Eagles, is no stranger to drama, but the news on Wednesday was different because Mike Missanelli, a staple of the city’s airwaves for decades, was arrested at his home in Wynnewood in the early morning hours.
Lower Merion Police charged the 70-year-old with simple assault and harassment following a domestic dispute. After years of Missanelli breaking down Eagles and Phillies games, the local media industry is now processing the news of his handcuff moment.

Missanelli is a longtime fixture in Philly sports media. He started at the Philadelphia Inquirer before hosting at 610 WIP and 97.5 The Fanatic. After leaving the Fanatic in 2022 and returning in 2024, he was let go again in August 2025 during company-wide layoffs.

This isn’t his first controversy, however, as his career has been punctuated by several high-profile incidents involving physical altercations and controversial remarks. Missanelli was fired from 610 WIP after a physical altercation with part-time producer Brian Robbins.
Then in 2017, he was dismissed from his weekly television role on “Sports Sunday” at WPVI, after making disparaging comments about ESPN broadcaster Beth Mowins.
