The Tampa Bay Buccaneers might make a splashy move at cornerback in the near future — maybe in the 1st round of the 2026 NFL draft.
Until then, it’s hard to argue with their approach so far, which seems to be strength in numbers.
The Buccaneers flexed their muscles in that regard with a pair of free-agent cornerback signings on Thursday, which should add much-needed depth, signing Kemon Hall away from the Tennessee Titans and Chase Lucas away from the San Francisco 49ers.
“Former Titans free-agent CB Kemon Hall is signing a one-year deal with the Buccaneers,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter wrote on his official X account.
“TheBuccaneers have agreed to terms with CB Chase Lucas on a one-year deal, per his agent Jamal Tooson,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport wrote on his official X account. “Lucas, who appeared in 15 games for the49ers, became a free agent when he went untendered as a restricted FA. Now heads east to Tampa in Todd Bowles’ defense.”
It’s pretty clear both Hall and Lucas are being brought in to, hopefully, add depth at the cornerback spots and be key players the team can rely on with special teams.
“I don’t think either corner the Bucs signed today would ideally be a third outside corner behind McCollum/Morrison,” Fox Sports NFL reporter Greg Auman wrote on his official X account on Thursday. “That’ll either come from the draft or another veteran signing. Parrish could slide outside as needed as well.”
