Ohio State standouts like Sonny Styles, Caleb Downs and Arvell Reese are all exciting names to watch heading into the draft. All three players certainly feature top-10 potential as the draft draws near.
Meanwhile, Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson will likely be one of the names that football fans have circled as draft night approaches. The Crimson Tide star finished his college career strong, but many scouts consider Mendoza a much safer prospect than Simpson.

Unsurprisingly, the wide receiver and running back positions include several enticing names. Notre Dame standout and Heisman Trophy finalist Jeremiyah Love is considered the clear top player at his position.
However, first-round running backs are often considered risky prospects in spite of the talent they possess at the collegiate level. Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs are three of the exceptions that continue to show off their skills every week in spite of the perception of their position.
2026 NFL Draft attendees confirmed
Surprisingly, Mendoza isn’t expected in attendance at the draft as Las Vegas appears to already have their quarterback. However, that leaves the New York Jets in position to draw intrigue with their number two selection in the first round.
Head coach Aaron Glenn and New York could certainly address many positions after bringing back veteran signal caller Geno Smith.
