Former Patriots WR Stefon Diggs hit with brutal NFL reality for 2026

Former New England Patriots receiver Stefon Diggs is still seen as a productive weapon, having been released by the AFC East champs this offseason.

But it doesn't appear there is a big market for Diggs, which some might find a little odd, considering he played a key role in the Patriots' run to the Super Bowl, posting over 1,000 yards as one of Drake Maye's top weapons.

So where does that leave Diggs?

For Sports Illustrated's Gilberto Manzano, he's named the Atlanta Falcons as a possible landing spot, but Manzano dropped a career truth on Diggs in the process.

"Diggs had a memorable comeback season, helping the Patriots advance to the Super Bowl," Manzano wrote. "He had dominant stretches, stepped up when it mattered most and gave Drake Maye a much-needed security blanket.

"But Diggs’s off-field issues were too much to ignore last season. Even if he resolves his legal matters, it’s going to be difficult for Diggs to find a team to bet on him as he enters his age-33 season."

Diggs a fit in Atlanta?

He could be, and he might be a nice addition to an offense that has Bijan Robinson, Drake London, and Kyle Pitts.

But as Manzano stated, Diggs' off-field issues could make teams think twice about signing him.

Still productive, as evidenced by last season, it is clear Diggs still has something to give in 2026; it is just a matter of whether NFL teams think the juice will be worth the squeeze for the receiver.

He isn't likely to find a new home in the league until much later in the offseason if injury strikes, and going by Manzano's words, even then, it might be hard to land on an NFL roster.
