As the draft approaches, trade speculation inevitably heats up. Several players could be dealt before, during, or after draft weekend.

The Atlanta Falcons find themselves at the center of that conversation, with star tight end Kyle Pitts drawing significant trade interest following his strongest season in 2025.

Rather than signing Pitts to a long-term extension, the Falcons placed the franchise tag on him, preventing him from reaching the open market. While the two sides could still agree to a long-term deal, the team may have a larger plan in mind.

Recent reports confirm that Pitts has reported to offseason workouts and signed his franchise tender. That move guarantees his 2026 salary and gives the Falcons flexibility they previously lacked.
With Pitts now under contract, Atlanta can trade him if the right offer emerges. Before signing the tender, Pitts held most of the negotiating leverage.

Had he refused to sign, the Falcons could only negotiate contract terms with him. Pitts also could have held out until reaching a deal — either with Atlanta or a potential trade partner.

Now, however, the situation has shifted. The Falcons can move Pitts at their discretion, and he would be subject to fines if he misses team activities, as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement. Still, nothing currently suggests a standoff is imminent.

Pitts’ decision to report to workouts signals his commitment to the team. If Atlanta had already received a compelling trade offer, it likely would have acted by now.
That said, a deal could still materialize during the draft. Pitts remains a rare talent at the tight end position, and teams are always searching for dynamic offensive playmakers.
