Giants coach John Harbaugh likes what he sees early on from QB Jaxson Dart.
Heading into his second season with the New York Giants, Jaxson Dart has a lot on his plate. Not only is he gearing up for his first full year as a starter, but he is playing under a new head coach. Luckily for him, he seems to have started things off on the right foot.
This offseason, the Giants made a major splash by bringing in John Harbaugh to be the franchise’s next head coach. Coming off a long tenure with the Baltimore Ravens, he’ll now attempt to get New York back in the mix in the NFC.
Earlier this week, the Giants began their offseason program and ramp-up for the 2026 season. While speaking with the media after the first day of action, Harbaugh was asked about working with Dart in a football setting. The young QB made a strong first impression with his new coach, as Harbaugh was impressed with his focus and attentiveness.
“I saw [Dart] reacting to it and interacting. I asked him what he thought about it, seemed excited,” Harbaugh said. “It was fun to see offense up on the screen and Jaxson right there taking his notes. That was awesome, so it was a good start.”

Giants Offensive Coordinator Impressed by Jaxson Dart’s Competitive Drive
Harbaugh wasn’t the only change the Giants made to their coaching staff this offseason. Coming off a four-year stint with the Kansas City Chiefs, longtime coach Matt Nagy was brought on as New York’s offensive coordinator.
Nagy is in line with Harbaugh when it comes to Dart, as he too is impressed by what he’s seen from the former first-round pick thus far. During a recent media availability, he opened up on the young QB’s strong desire to become an elite talent.
“The one thing I love about Jaxson is Jaxson wants to be the best, he really does,” Nagy told reporters on April 7th. “He wants to be the best, he wants to be coached hard, have that discipline.”

After starting his rookie campaign as a backup to Russell Wilson, Dart now has a clear runway to establish himself as the Giants’ franchise QB for the foreseeable future.
Former NFL QB Setting Lofty Expectations for Jaxson Dart
While he didn’t have a full season under center last year, Dart still managed to show a lot of promise as the Giants’ starting quarterback. Despite only heading into his sophomore season, one former player is already setting a high bar for him for the future.
During a Giants segment on “WFAN Sports Radio” earlier this week, Boomer Esiason gave his thoughts on Dart heading into the 2026 season. He feels if he can put together a strong campaign, it could lead to a massive payday when it comes time to ink an extension.
“It’s time for Jaxson Dart to get serious,” Esiason said. “If he has a good year this year and even better year next year, these next two years will set him up for life…You could see him as a $70 million quarterback here in New York.”
Only time will tell if Dart is able to answer the call in his first full season under center.
