Cherries back in Premier League action after 22 days aiming at record at Arsenal

Twenty-two days after their 2-2 draw with Manchester United, Bournemouth visit the Emirates 11 games unbeaten, matching the record streak they set last season.

It will be a tough task to go one more unbeaten, but they won in north London last season and the Gunners are perhaps a little wounded after recent results.

Team news

Andoni Iraola will be hoping that the longer-than-usual mid-season break will have given a few of his players chance to recover from injuries.

That may see both Tyler Adams and Lewis Cook return to contention, while Junior Kroupi, who returned from France U21 duty early, should be available, too.

Justin Kluivert and Julio Soler remain ruled out.

For Arsenal, Jurrien Timber and Bukayo Saka are doubts, while Mikel Merion, Eberechi Eze and Piero Hincapie are all out.

Head-to-head

Prior to last season, the Gunners had much the better record over their south coast opponents.

But Iraola masterminded a first-ever league double over their hosts, including a 2-1 comeback win at the Emirates, which saw Dean Huijsen and Evanilson score second half goals to claim the three points.

Earlier this term, it was an exciting game at Dean Court which saw Arsenal come out on top, winning 3-2 thanks to a Declan Rice brace.

Bournemouth led through Evanilson early on, before Gabriel equalised for the visitors. Rice then scored twice in the second half, and Kroupi netted to make it an interesting conclusion, but Arsenal held on.

Form

The Cherries arrive on good form, but having not played in 22 days.

They are 13th in the table, unbeaten in 11 games, but having drawn the past five, with some of those draws better points than others.

That includes the 2-2 draw to United, but they were disappointed to only come away with one point at home to Brentford and away at Burnley in the games before that.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have won their past four in the league, but their quadruple hopes have been destroyed in recent weeks.

They first lost to Manchester City at the end of March in the League Cup final, before they were dumped out of the FA Cup last weekend by Championship Southampton at the quarterfinal stage.

Mikel Arteta’s side responded well with a 1-0 away win at Sporting in the Champions League, and they’ll be hoping to extend their lead at the top of the league over second placed City to 12 points, before the Manchester club play on Sunday.

AFC Bournemouth visit Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday, April 11, kick off at 12.30pm.
