Man United, Arsenal, Chelsea Locked in£100m Battle For Morgan Rogers: Reports

According to reports, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain are preparing to make big offers for Morgan Rogers. The Blues are making frantic moves this summer to strengthen their attacking ranks. Their sense of urgency has put them firmly in a four-way race for Morgan Rogers.

The 23-year-old Aston Villa forward is likely to cost close to £100 million, making this the most exciting transfer story of the Premier League window. Villa’s asking price starts at over £80 million and could go up to £90 million if a bidding war breaks out. Rogers has been amazing for Unai Emery’s team, scoring 23 goals and setting up 23 more in all competitions since the start of last season. This performance won him the PFA Young Player of the Season award for 2024–25.

Michael Carrick, who used to work with Rogers at Middlesbrough and is now the interim manager of Manchester United, recently praised the forward before their league meeting:

“…he is a good person, great to work with so I am delighted he has done so well.”

The Villans gave Rogers a long-term contract extension until 2031 last November, so they don’t want to sell him, but they might have to, because of money problems, even if they qualify for the Champions League. Middlesbrough sold him for up to £15 million in February 2024, and they will also get 20% of any profit from the sale, which could increase the final fee.

Why Chelsea Are Targeting Rogers

Chelsea are interested because they have had trouble being creative on the left side all season. Jamie Gittens, who joined the team in the summer, has had a terrible first season at Stamford Bridge. He has only scored one goal in 27 games before a hamstring tear kept him out of contention.

Liam Rosenior’s team really need a dynamic attacker who can play on the left or in the middle because Alejandro Garnacho is struggling with his form, leaving Cole Palmer with much of the creative burden. Rogers is a perfect fit for that role, and the Blues are said to be willing to pay whatever Villa ask for, even if it is a record-breaking amount.

Rogers’ profile will only grow under Thomas Tuchel during the World Cup, and any deal will most likely be made later in the summer window.
