The Cleveland Browns may be considering a surprise move in the first round of the draft.

The Browns brought in one of the more intriguing offensive weapons in the draft, hosting Kenyon Sadiq out of Oregon this week. While much of the pre-draft buzz has centered on wide receivers, Sadiq represents a compelling curveball — and potentially a more versatile solution.

Ranked as the top tight end in the class by Mel Kiper Jr., Sadiq turned heads last season with 51 catches for 560 yards and eight touchdowns. At 6-foot-3, 241 pounds with 4.39 speed, he profiles as a rare athlete at the position. Sadiq is the kind of matchup problem who could make an immediate impact in the passing game at the next level.

While Cleveland still has holes elsewhere on the offense, Daniel Oyefusi broke down why the Browns could have interest.

“Cleveland, which had the NFL’s least productive wide receiver room in 2025, has been connected to several wideout prospects. However, the Browns have expressed confidence in players such as Jerry Jeudy and Isaiah Bond,” Oyefusi said. “New coach Todd Monken has also had success with two tight end groupings and general manager Andrew Berry said the team thinks of pass catchers ‘globally,’ which could put Sadiq in play in the first round.”

The Browns hold two first-round picks — Nos. 6 and 24 overall.

Browns Have Harold Fannin as Breakout Star

The Browns drafted Harold Fannin Jr. in the third round last season and he was the breakout star among a loaded rookie class for Cleveland. Fannin led the Browns in nearly every major receiving category, catching 72 passes for 731 yards and six touchdowns.

New Browns head coach Todd Monken was brought in for his offensive prowess. Monken had an interesting comp for Fannin.

“He’s a little like Brock Bowers in that his body type is more of an H and F, run after the catch more than length, more as a C gap blocking Y,” Monken said. “So you love his athleticism, you like his ability to run after the catch, his ball skills like Brock, very similar in that regard.”

Pairing Fannin with Sadiq would potentially give the Browns one of the most dynamic tight end duos in the league. But it could come at the cost of addressing a clear lack of firepower at wide receiver.

Browns Need to Add Weapons for QBs

The Browns have a quarterback competition that remains genuinely open. Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel are all in the picture. But the more pressing question may be what they’re handing any of them to work with.

Jerry Jeudy is the nominal WR1, and last season made the case that label needs work. Jeudy finished with 50 receptions for 602 yards and two touchdowns on 106 targets. Whoever lines up under center in Week 1 will need more weapons.

Sanders appears to be the early frontrunner for the job. He started the final seven games last season, passing for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Watson is also being seriously considered, despite missing all of last season and playing in just 19 games since 2020.
