April 10 – Meta Platforms has moved deeper into football with a new global agreement linking its WhatsApp and Facebook platforms with Premier League Arsenal.
The deal focuses on how fans already use both platforms to follow the club and interact with each other, and aims to turn those habits into more structured and direct engagement channels.
Supporters will be offered a range of new digital features, including exclusive content via Arsenal’s official WhatsApp Channel and Facebook page, as well as matchday activations at Emirates Stadium throughout April – a crucial period for the side currently leading the Premier League.
The partnership launched with the ‘It’s Official’ film, released across Arsenal and Meta-owned channels yesterday.
Vivian Odior, Head of Marketing, Family of Apps, said: “We know that being an Arsenal supporter doesn’t start at kick-off and end at the final whistle. WhatsApp and Facebook are where that year-round passion lives – the transfer speculation, the tactical debates, the shared memories and hopes for next season. Whether in a private WhatsApp group chat or echoed across Facebook’s global groups, we’re proud to bring Gooners even closer to the club they love.”
From Arsenal’s perspective, the deal strengthens its ability to engage a global fanbase while supporting wider commercial objectives.
Juliet Slot, chief commercial officer at Arsenal, said: “Being an Arsenal supporter is about shared moments, connection and a sense of belonging in our community. Our partnership with Meta builds on how our supporters already come together, wherever they are in the world, and will create more ways to feel closer and more connected to our club. As we continue to compete to win major trophies, partnerships like this play an important role in supporting that ambition and strengthening our connection with supporters.”
Supporters will have plenty to chat about ahead of Arsenal’s return to the Premier League this weekend. The Gunners will host Bournemouth in what is beginning to look like a must-win game to stave off Manchester City’s late title pursuit. As things stand, they are nine points clear with seven games to go, though Manchester City have a game in hand and still have to play Arsenal in the title run-in.
The Gunners were beaten by City in the Carabao Cup final last month and in the FA Cup quarter finals by Southampton last weekend, adding fuel to the fire of a potential title comeback.
Arteta’s side host the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter final against Sporting CP next week carrying a slender 1-0 lead into the fixture.
