Kenny Moore II has responded to the news that the Colts are going to look to trade him
The Indianapolis Colts have already moved on from key players like Michael Pittman Jr. and Zaire Franklin this offseason, but it seems like another guy will be following them out the exit door in the near future. That’s because, on Friday morning, reports emerged indicating that the Colts will begin exploring a trade for veteran cornerback Kenny Moore II.
With the arrival of Sauce Gardner, Moore’s role in Indianapolis’ secondary has become a bit murkier, especially when considering he’s set to enter the final year of his three-year, $30 million contract. The Colts have decided to look to move on from Moore before it’s too late, which prompted their longtime player to issue a six-word response.

After briefly spending time with the New England Patriots in 2017, Moore latched on with the Colts, which is where he has spent the first nine years of his career. During this time, the undersized Moore has turned himself into one of the most effective slot corners in the league, and he’s become a key leader in the locker room that his teammates often look to for guidance.
Moore’s best season came in 2021, with his strong play earning him the first and only Pro Bowl selection of his career. With the Colts switching up their defensive scheme in 2025, though, Moore lost his starting job in the secondary, which was the first sign that he could be on the move this offseason.
Sure enough, Indianapolis is looking to find a trade for Moore with the 2026 NFL Draft drawing near. While it may seem like there’s some bad blood between the two sides, it’s actually the opposite. Both sides agree that a trade is in everybody’s best interest, with Moore confirming that he is still on good terms with his longtime team shortly after the news of this impending move broke.

No move has been made yet, but with the Colts likely looking for some more draft capital, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see Moore get dealt before the upcoming draft. Indianapolis has lost some leverage with this news coming to light, but at this point, the primary objective appears to involve shedding the final year of Moore’s contract for salary cap purposes.
Losing Moore will surely hurt Indy, but its cornerback depth chart is loaded. Moore’s play began to slip last year, but he’s capable of being a starting slot cornerback, which should lead to several interested teams emerging from the shadows in the coming days. The Colts aren’t going to get any sort of massive haul in return for Moore, but getting anything in exchange for him is better than potentially losing him on the open market next offseason, which is the alternative outcome here.
